Applies extensive knowledge, skill and clinical experience to assess, plan, evaluate and implement nutritional goals and care plans. In addition, utilizing clinical techniques and clinical models, demonstrates knowledge of chronic renal failure treatment modalities to enhance assessment and care plans. Qualifications Education & Experience Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Restricted Activities A, B, and/or C, not required. Two (2) years’ recent, related clinical experience in a general medical/acute care setting with renal experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Broad knowledge of Clinical Nutrition theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care. Broad knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Broad knowledge of assessing clients with multi-system nutritional problems. Broad knowledge of chronic renal failure nutrition management and principles of education. Broad knowledge of enteral and parenteral nutrition. Broad knowledge of multi-cultural including typical diet/foods, religion and traditions. Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care. Broad knowledge of research process and methodology. Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care plan, and to respond appropriately. Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, clients and their families, and external agencies. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to client/family priorities. Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events, deal with conflict situations, and problem-solve and to think critically. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work. Demonstrated ability to teach and counsel clients with chronic disease. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
