Job Description: Reporting to the Vice President, Security & Information Services (S&IS), this position is responsible for the successful delivery of security and IS projects to meet business requirements. This role is also a key stakeholder in working with and providing guidance to AltaLink’s five-year business transformation program. The successful candidate will lead the organization to achieve the successful delivery of strategic security and IS business solutions. This will be achieved through the execution of S&IS capital projects supported by the prudent use of technology (hardware, software, methodology, support, etc.) to ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of AltaLink’s transmission system. The successful candidate will be accountable to execute AltaLink’s S&IS capital delivery program and collaborate in the development and completion of the overall security and IS strategy, roadmap and project execution. The individual in this role will provide leadership by working across internal business partners and external delivery partners to continuously improve and lead functional change by utilizing a consultative approach to develop clear and concise business objectives, business process design, and a partnership with business peers to coach and advocate existing technology. Fundamental to this role is providing project delivery and organizational leadership to ensure the project solutions align with the corporate and Enterprise Architecture (EA) strategies. The role also monitors critical security and IS project development processes to ensure continuous improvement. These processes align with, and are supported by, the applications to ensure value is consistently delivered to the business. Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Planning: Lead a team that develops and implements capital project strategies aligned with business plans, corporate strategy, and security and IS objectives. Work with other S&IS leaders to develop a long-term capital investment plan that meets our customer and business needs. Oversee the full lifecycle of capital projects; from initiation through design, development, commissioning, and closeout. Work with functional business leaders, project leaders, and external resources to identify high-impact business opportunities/requirements and transform them into value added programs. Provide planning, delivery and estimation support for the development of the Corporate Services capital General Tariff Application (GTA) submission. Project Management & Execution: Lead the S&IS Project Management Office (PMO) in portfolio, program and project management functions for the implementation of security and IS capital projects. Lead project delivery teams to ensure consistent project delivery standards are followed. Collaborate with organizational leaders to lead the planning and prioritization of security and IS capital expenditures and ensure all expenditures fall within the regulatory approved funding constraints and governance requirements. Lead the identification of areas for improvement and provide direction on project management best practices and ensure adherence to all project delivery, governance and control requirements. Ensure that IS capital development is compliant with all audit and regulatory requirements (including but not limited to CSOX, ITGC), security and risk control frameworks. Financial Oversight: Prepare and manage the capital projects budget, including forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting on capital expenditures and capital additions. Collaborate with supply chain management to define contracting strategies and manage vendor relationships with project delivery partners. Ensure financial accountability for capital investments. Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with business leaders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies. Work collaboratively with internal customers to develop and implement service level agreements with sound measures to monitor project status, risk, and outcomes. Facilitate stakeholder alignment and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure early and frequent engagement with S&IS operational teams to ensure fulsome transition to operations for all projects. Work collaboratively with the business to ensure continued leadership development and cultivation of a services-oriented culture within the IS project delivery team. Risk & Compliance Management: Identify and mitigate risks across technical, financial, and operational domains and ensure compliance with safety, security, environmental, and regulatory standards. Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team including program managers, project managers, analysts, coordinators and technical specialists.
