What you’ll be doing: Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with customers, strategic partners, and vendors/suppliers across NOAM, EMEA and APAC. Delivering legal and general commercial advice to key stakeholders across all Lightspeed departments. Documenting legal know-how and delivering training to the wider Legal Team and business stakeholders. Identifying and advising on legal risks and compliance issues relating to the structuring, development and marketing of new products or features. Performing quick, focused legal research and analysis. Helping manage legal aspects of complex, cross-functional, multi-jurisdictional projects. Suggesting, building and improving upon the Legal Team’s operations and processes. Monitoring changes to regulatory requirements and proactively handling regulatory developments. Supporting litigation and other disputes management. Managing investigations by and requests from regulatory bodies and government authorities. What you need to bring: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. Licensed to practice law in Canada and/or the United States. 2-4 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm and/or as in-house counsel, preferably with exposure to international, multi-jurisdictional matters. Broad commercial experience. Extensive background in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, terms and conditions, and other similar contracts is a must-have. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. French is a strong asset. As a global company with employees and clients outside of Quebec, fluency in English as a working language is required for this position. Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment. Even better if you have, but not necessary: Experience working in different jurisdictions and languages; the technology, financial services, and/or SaaS industries.
