About the job
EUROGATE Group Automation (EGA) is driving the transformation of EUROGATE’s German terminals through an ambitious automation programme.
Our goal is simple: to make automation the engine of safety, reliability, and performance — turning technology and process excellence into measurable business results.
EGA brings together experts from engineering, operations, automation, and digital technologies to deliver complex automation projects that redefine how our terminals work. We are building a culture based on lean performance, continuous improvement, and practical learning — focused on progress, not control.
The Role
The IT QA Lead (Mini Terminal – WHV) is part of the Mini Terminal project and is responsible for testing IT and engineering solutions delivered by the IT Factory and others.
The accountability of the role is:
Own and orchestrate the overall testing strategy and execution across lab, integration, and live environments
Ensure all testing activities are structured, planned, and executed in a coordinated and visible manner across IT Factory, vendors, and project teams
Ensure integration, end-to-end, and flow testing are executed in alignment with defined scenarios and project priorities
Establish and maintain clear test governance, including:
- Test planning, scheduling, and sequencing
- Definition of entry/exit criteria
- Alignment of test scope across teams and systems
Ensure defects and issues are identified, prioritised, and driven through to resolution, with clear ownership and visibility across all parties
Provide clear and accurate reporting on testing progress, risks, and quality status
Coordinate testing activities across multiple systems and stakeholders, ensuring:
- Alignment between IT Factory, equipment providers, and project teams
- Effective execution of cross-system testing
Ensure testing reflects real operational scenarios, in close alignment with functional experts and Operations.
The IT QA Lead reports to the IT and Automation Manager of the Mini Terminal project.
Location: Wilhelmshaven with some travel possible across EUROGATE’s other locations – Bremen, Bremerhaven and Hamburg.
Language: English fluency required; German language proficiency is strongly preferred too.
In practice, this means you will:
- Act as the central orchestrator of all testing activities, ensuring alignment, structure, and momentum across lab, integration, and live environments
- Work closely with IT Application Engineers to ensure test scenarios reflect correct system behaviour and operational intent
- Coordinate with IT Factory and equipment providers to plan and execute testing across systems and interfaces
- Ensure test readiness across all parties, including environments, data, scenarios, and resources
- Track, prioritise, and drive resolution of defects and issues, maintaining clear ownership and escalation where required
- Provide transparent reporting on testing progress, risks, and outcomes to the Asset Delivery team
- Maintain control of the testing process in a complex, multi-vendor environment, ensuring alignment and accountability across all participants.
Hard Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience as a QA Lead in industrial automated environments (e.g. logistics, manufacturing, baggage handling, automotive or similar)
- Proven experience managing the end-to-end testing process, including planning, execution, and defect tracking
- Proven experience leading and coordinating teams of testers (internal, external, and operational staff)
- Experience working with integrated systems involving both software and equipment
- Ability to identify, prioritise, and track issues and defects, ensuring timely resolution
- Experience reporting on testing progress, quality status, and priorities
- Relevant qualification in IT, engineering, or a related field preferred
You may have been working as a QA Lead in a complex automated or industrial environment (e.g. terminal, warehouse, manufacturing), coordinating testing across multiple systems and vendors
You may have experience managing testing in environments where software and equipment must integrate and function together as a single operational system
