Our applications provide the ideal foundation for the processes of our Advertising Procurement & Invoicing product . Using our software (both proprietary and third-party developments), our marketing departments in the regions can book and manage the appropriate advertising materials for their campaigns. The entire campaign process, from planning and ordering to execution, performance monitoring, and invoicing, is mapped in SAP. Logistics, marketing, and processes in the markets (both offline and online) rely on our data.

Within our agile organization, we consistently align our development efforts with the needs of our users. Requirements are gathered collaboratively, prioritized, and implemented in short three-week iteration cycles. In parallel, we are driving the modernization of our application landscape: A historically monolithic legacy application based on Apache Wicket is being gradually migrated to the REWE standard toolkit and the Angular design system. Simultaneously, we are transforming to a microservice architecture in the Google Cloud to sustainably improve the solution's scalability, maintainability, and future-proofing.

The position is temporary, ending at the end of 2027.

Tasks that will help you progress:

As part of our cross-functional product team, you will be a Full Stack Developer responsible for the holistic implementation of requirements and subsequent operational support. You will support the team in creating and estimating user stories and be responsible for their implementation.

• You make life easier for many people: by developing modern, user-centered applications that are consistently geared towards the needs of our users. You design scalable web solutions based on Angular, microservices, and Google Cloud, and implement proven development principles such as clean code and clean architecture.
• You'll be involved in everything from analyzing business requirements and designing modern solution architectures to creating high-quality documentation. Together with the team, you'll guide the step-by-step transformation of a monolithic legacy application to a modern cloud-native architecture.
• You will take on responsibility: for compliance with architecture and development standards, the design and further development of reusable components in the REWE standard toolkit, and for ensuring a sustainable, maintainable and future-proof software solution.
• You actively participate in the application modernization: By maintaining and further developing the existing Apache Wicket application, you ensure stable operation and simultaneously enable a smooth migration to Angular, microservices and the Google Cloud.
• As part of the team, you focus on software quality: Through pair programming, code reviews and continuous exchange with your colleagues, you ensure high quality standards and support the continuous improvement of development processes, test automation and software architecture.

• Your qualifications: You have successfully completed a degree in computer science, business informatics or a comparable qualification, or you have equivalent practical experience and would like to actively help shape modern software solutions.
• Your development experience: You have practical experience in object-oriented software development and are familiar with the challenges of further developing existing applications and transforming monolithic systems into modern, service-oriented architectures.
• Your technical expertise: You have experience in developing modern web applications. Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript and Angular, as well as Java (8+) and the Spring ecosystem, especially Spring Boot, is particularly helpful.
• Your database skills: You have initial or already in-depth experience working with relational databases such as DB2 or Oracle, as well as with SQL. Knowledge of OR mappers such as JPA or Hibernate is an advantage.
• Your cloud and DevOps experience: Ideally, you have already gained experience with CI/CD pipelines based on GitLab, container technologies, and the operation of microservices in Kubernetes and/or cloud environments such as the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Your enthusiasm for modern software architectures: You are interested in cloud-native applications, microservices and the continuous modernization of application landscapes, always keeping the technical and economic benefits in mind.
• Your communication skills: You enjoy working in agile, cross-functional teams, communicate confidently in German and have good English skills for collaboration in a modern development environment.
