The Associate Director for Training, Outreach, and Psychological Assessment (Associate Director) provides oversight to a multidisciplinary clinical team tasked with training, outreach, and psychological assessments. The team oversees the clinical training programs for graduate student trainees (i.e. “practicum students”), doctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows, including data collection and evaluation of training services, and training program development in accordance with guidelines and accreditation requirements of the American Psychological Association (APA). The team also oversees the outreach and programmatic efforts of the UCC to support campus and individual mental health, wellness, and skill development as well as UCC psychological assessments in collaboration with and on behalf of the medication management team, Student Health Center, and Student Access. The Associate Director works closely with Student Care Coordination, Student Health Center, Student access, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the UCC’s Continuity, Psychiatry, Programs, and Administration.
Reporting directly to the UCC Director, the Associate Director supervises a leadership team made up of four program managers to provide leadership, assign cases in a timely and appropriate manner, oversee quality improvement activities such as chart review and documentation processes, and ensures compliance with individual service plans. In partnership with the Director as well as the Associate Directors for Continuity, Psychiatry, and Programs this position coordinates intake teams and referral services within the clinic and works to build a highly effective team within a collaborative and interdependent clinic.
The Associate Director functions as a staff psychologist approximately 30% of the time, offering diagnostic assessment short- term therapy in individual and group settings for Vanderbilt students and assists Urgent Care as needed. This position will also perform community outreach, consultation, and liaison activities, and will serve as a senior clinical supervisor for unlicensed and newly licensed staff as well as graduate trainees. Multicultural awareness and responsiveness are important components of all training, clinical, and community outreach-oriented work.
