JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Department of Health Studies seek a dynamic and experienced Instructional Designer to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of competency-based academic programs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in instructional design best practices, online and hybrid learning environments, and electronic assessment platforms that support competency-based education (CBE) models. This role will collaborate closely with faculty, program directors, and academic leadership to ensure high-quality, engaging, and measurable learning experiences across all programs.
COMPETENCY-BASED EDUCATION (CBE) IMPLEMENTATION – 20%
Guide the design of CBE-aligned courses, including mastery-based learning pathways and performance-based assessments.
Define and document curriculum maps, progression models, and demonstration-of-mastery requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum & Instruction, Learning Technologies, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in instructional design or educational technology, preferably in higher education.
Demonstrated experience with competency-based education models, frameworks, and delivery.
Proficiency with electronic assessment systems (e.g., LMS-integrated platforms, analytics dashboards, rubrics, outcomes tracking tools).
Experience working with faculty and subject matter experts to develop online and hybrid courses.
Strong project management and communication skills, with attention to detail and stakeholder collaboration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in healthcare education or health professions programs.
Familiarity with Brightspace (D2L), Anthology Suite, Interfolio, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of accreditation standards (e.g., CAHME, AUPHA, CAHIIM) and how they intersect with instructional design and assessment practices.
Experience with instructional video development, media tools, and accessibility standards (e.g., ADA compliance, WCAG).
