Description The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that the BHA Academy environment is safe, clean, functional, and supportive of high-quality educational and therapeutic programming. This position is responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, performing repairs, maintaining the building and grounds, addressing safety needs, and supporting day-to-day facility operations. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Compassion with Purpose Maintain a school environment that reflects care, dignity, and respect for the students we serve. Respond promptly and sensitively to maintenance needs that directly impact student safety, comfort, or learning conditions. Support staff following behavioral or crisis incidents by restoring spaces quickly, safely, and respectfully. Structure Builds Safety Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, HVAC filter changes, equipment checks, interior paint touch-ups, and wall patching. Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free environments across classrooms, hallways, restrooms, therapy rooms, and outdoor spaces. Complete snow and ice removal to ensure safe access to buildings and walkways. Conduct regular safety checks, identifying and correcting hazards (e.g., loose fixtures, damaged furniture, blocked exits). Follow established procedures for maintenance request tracking and timely resolution. Other Duties Perform other duties and special projects to support various organizational initiatives as assigned. Perform general repairs (patching walls, repairing furniture, replacing ceiling tiles, tightening fixtures, etc.). Touch-up and maintain interior paint throughout the building. Clean, sanitize, and restore areas following behavioral incidents or biohazard exposure. Maintain building grounds including snow removal, leaf blowing, trash removal, and general outdoor upkeep. Support setup, breakdown, delivery, and relocation of furniture and equipment. Conduct routine walk-throughs to identify maintenance or safety concerns. Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and notify leadership when items need replenishing. Support emergency protocols, including shutting off water valves, responding to leaks, or securing unsafe areas. Coordinate with external vendors when specialized repair services are needed.
