Requirements EXPERIENCE + KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITY (KSA) Intermediate // Developing skills with some practical experience; able to perform tasks with or without assistance. 2+ years of professional experience in the field. Knowledge of field operations, methods, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations associated with civil infrastructure work in outdoor settings. Skills include use of industry-standard tools, equipment, and computer software to perform field tasks, document work, and communicate effectively. Ability to safely operate required equipment, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, with occasional overnight stays, and perform work in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions. RESPONSIBILITIES // Ultimately, the Field Technician is responsible for the success of field operations to support project completion. 1. General // Perform routine assignments with limited supervision. Expand technical knowledge and field capabilities. Coordinate with project staff as directed. May operate a variety of vehicles, including large vehicles with or without attached trailers, as needed to support specific operational tasks, and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient use. May cross train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE). 2. Safety + Compliance // Comply with all safety procedures: Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Emergency Action Plans (EAP), and Project Safety Plans (PSP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures. Observe and follow QA/QC processes under supervision. Identifying and evaluating potential hazards in the work environment. Properly selecting and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Understanding of Traffic Control Plans (TCP). Be familiar with Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards governing projects in their respective field. 3. Technical // Assist Survey Party Chief in the collection of survey data or staking out construction points based on elevations of the job site. Construction Staking, including but not limited to hammering iron rods, wood lathes, & hubs. Boundary & Topographical surveying duties under the supervision of a Party Chief to include but not limited to clearing brush and digging holes. Positioning prism pole over desired point, setting up backsights. General warehouse maintenance and vehicle inspections i.e., check oil and tire pressure. Daily inventory to restock supplies as needed for projects. Operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles. Adapt to changing priorities. Perform independent research and adapt to changing priorities. Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product that is error free. Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment. Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity. Includes activities such as reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another and transporting objects by holding them in the hands, arms, or over the shoulder. Capable of lifting, carrying, and balancing equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds in various environments, including remote, rural, or urban settings. Ability to walk long distances (3+ miles) and climb on uneven surfaces. Office Conditions. Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones. Additionally, tasks may involve the use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices. Outdoor Conditions. Includes walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, confined spaces, and exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures). Potential exposure to high noise levels and various allergens, including poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, and cedar. Potential exposure to wildlife hazards such as animals, insects, and plants. Ability to move effectively in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other outdoor assignments. Safety and Equipment Use. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, along with use of pneumatic, hand and power tools. Driving and Vehicle Use. May involve driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers, potentially operating watercraft, and for extended periods of time.
