Overview LSAC’s mission is to advance law and justice by promoting access, equity, and fairness in law school admission and supporting the learning journey from prelaw through practice. Pay rate: $42 to $46/hr, depending on experience The Paralegal plays a vital role in providing functional and operational support within the Office of General Counsel, which oversees legal, governance and compliance matters for the organization. The person in this role must be able to interact with all members of the LSAC community, including executives, upper-level management, business partners and colleagues in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, calm, resourceful and efficient. This position requires a professional demeanor, sense of urgency, results-focus, strong technology competence and the ability to keep sensitive material and conversations strictly confidential. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important. Excellent organizational skills are required. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. As a member of the legal team, the Paralegal, under the direction of the General Counsel and Manager of Legal Operations or his/her designee, will be responsible for a variety of legal projects and tasks. This person will also work closely with other department attorneys and be an integral part of the legal team. Specifically, the position supports legal functions and various legal and special projects, which may include, but are not limited to: Drafting and revising legal documents as requested by Legal Counsel, including correspondence, spreadsheets, and presentations. Provision of litigation support, including the updating of case tracker to reflect case activity, tracking and management of legal holds, and responding to subpoenas and authorizations for documents. Provision of contract management support and assistance with required state and regulatory registrations and filings. Maintaining LSAC’s intellectual property organization system and working with internal stakeholders and outside counsel on the same: registrations, internal organization and tracking. Supporting the Misconduct and Irregularities in the Admissions Process program, including but not limited to, the review and preparation of files, and interpretation of applicable rules; data collection and entry; coordination with third parties and LSAC staff throughout the duration of the cases; developing reports; and maintaining database for accuracy of case cycle and details. Assisting with document organization, management, and department records management. Maintaining an on-going work plan for the position with a timeline for relevant tasks, document location and SOPs for reoccurring tasks and processes. Other duties which may be assigned from time-to-time, including supporting legal, governance, and compliance functions of the organization, and assisting other departments on projects or initiatives as may be assigned.
