Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance Monitor and evaluate the delivery of nursing and health-related services within InCommunity’s IDD programs to ensure compliance with care plans, medication administration, treatment protocols, and safety standards. Conduct nursing assessments, audits, and reviews (medical charts, medication records, incident reports) to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks. Collaborate with attending physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, and other clinical professionals to ensure coordinated care. Oversee medication management, including policies and procedures, ensuring proper storage, administration, documentation, and audit compliance. Be available for consultation/advice to staff on complex health issues, clinical emergencies, and care coordination. Assist in interviewing, selecting, hiring and training for employees for the crisis homes. Provide consultation and assistance regarding crisis intervention and critical incident support. Review and approve staff documentation which includes LPN and staff notes on a weekly basis. Review direct care staff progress notes and discuss with the appropriate staff member any discrepancies notes on the record (i.e. lack of documentation, inappropriate restrictions or lack of appropriate consequences; situations in which the current behavior program or treatment approach were not followed appropriately; check each report to ensure that time, date, signatures are correct. Training & Staff Development Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs for direct care staff, licensed practical nurses, and other relevant personnel on topics such as: • Medication administration & safety • Infection control & hygiene practices • Recognition and response to changes in health status • Behavior-related health issues common in the IDD population • Emergency procedures & first aid • Person-centered care and health promotion Participate in the development of orientation curricula for new staff and continuous education sessions (in-service) to maintain clinical competency and compliance with licensing/certification requirements. Mentor and coach staff on implementing best practices, supporting professional growth, and ensuring consistency and fidelity to care standards. Participate in professional growth activities such as conferences, classes, team meetings and program visitations Policy & Regulatory Compliance Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, licensure requirements (Georgia Board of Nursing, Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities, etc.) that affect IDD service delivery. Develop, review, and update nursing policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. Assist with preparing for audits, licensing reviews, and accreditation activities. Leadership & Collaboration Serve as a clinical resource and leader for other nurses, LPNs, direct support professionals, and management. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure integrated care planning and to address complex clinical or behavioral health issues. Drive quality improvement initiatives; collect and analyze data on clinical outcomes, incidents, and training effectiveness; make recommendations and implement changes. Qualifications Education, Certifications & Experience Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia, maintained in good standing required. 5 years of clinical nursing experience, including 1-2 years providing direct care or oversight in IDD, residential, developmental disabilities, behavioral health or similar settings. 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience, including 1–2 years providing direct care or clinical oversight in IDD, crisis services, behavior management, residential programs, or behavioral health environments. Current CPR and Basic Life Support certifications required; Advanced or specialty certifications related to IDD care, crisis intervention, medication administration behavioral health or trauma-informed care strongly preferred. Ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license with proof of personal automobile liability insurance, as travel between sites is required. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses Work Environment & Physical Demands Moderate noise level typical of office or program setting. Typical physical requirements including moving personal belongings, light equipment, materials to and from meeting locations, etc. Expected to be on call 24/7 unless other arrangements are made ahead of time.
