About the Job:

Disability Support Worker – Companionship & Community Access

1:1 Support | Minimal Personal Care | Flexible Shifts

Discover Nursing Australia is seeking a friendly, reliable and engaging Disability Support Worker to provide consistent 1:1 support to a participant.

This role is primarily focused on companionship, community access and helping the participant remain active, socially connected and independent. Only minimal assistance with personal care is required.

The Role:

We are looking for someone who can build a genuine and comfortable working relationship with the participant while supporting them to enjoy everyday life and remain connected with their community.

Support may include:

• Companionship and social engagement
• Community access and outings
• Shopping and everyday errands
• Cafés, lunch and social activities
• Attending appointments
• Recreational and leisure activities
• Walks, parks and local outings
• Transport within the community
• Encouragement with daily routines
• Light assistance around the home where required
• Minimal personal care/self-care assistance
• Supporting independence, confidence and choice
• Maintaining brief and accurate progress notes

This is not a high-intensity personal care role. The focus is on providing reliable companionship and practical support while encouraging the participant to remain as independent as possible.

About You:

Personality and reliability are particularly important for this role.

The right person will be:

• Friendly, positive and easy to talk to
• Reliable and punctual
• Patient and respectful
• Naturally engaging and able to build rapport
• Comfortable getting out and participating in community activities
• Happy to provide companionship and conversation
• Encouraging of independence and participant choice
• Comfortable providing minimal personal care when required
• Able to work independently and use appropriate initiative
• Interested in building a consistent and genuine working relationship with one participant

What You'll Need:

Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain where applicable:

• Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent/relevant qualification
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• National Police Check
• Current First Aid and CPR
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You
• Australian working rights
• Current driver's licence
• Reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle where transport is required
• ABN or willingness to obtain one
