Cooper Automotive is seeking a passionate, highly skilled and qualified Automotive Technician to join one of our workshops in Hobart, Tasmania.

 Cooper Automotive is Tasmania’s largest independent, locally owned service and repair group. We’re growing, expansion is on the way and we’re promoting from within! In this full-time role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality repairs, supporting the Service Centre Manager and helping the workshop achieve its performance and customer service targets. You’ll be part of a fast-paced, professional environment where technical expertise, attention to detail, teamwork and a commitment to customer satisfaction are highly valued.

Your Automotive Mechanic/Technician duties include: 

·        Performing routine servicing including oil changes, brakes, and tyre rotations

·        Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults, including on hybrid and EV systems, building your skills with support from senior techs

·        Road testing vehicles to ensure safety, reliability, and quality standards are met before they go back to the customer

·        Keeping job cards and service records accurate

·        Talking the customer service team through what you’ve found, and customers when required

·        Working safely and following our WHS policies and workshop procedures

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

·        Trade qualified: Cert III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology. Just finished? We want to hear from you! Experienced techs are more than welcome too!

·        Willingness to learn, especially about diagnostics, hybrid & EV

·        Be confident in the use of automotive diagnostic equipment and tools

·        Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work

·        Good communication and comfortable explaining repair queries to customers

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·        Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures

·        Current manual Australian driver’s licence
