Job Description The Registered Nurse (RN) is a regulated health care professional who is accountable and responsible for providing quality patient focused nursing care to patients in the Mental Health Outpatient Unit. As part of the inter-professional health care team, the RN will practice according to the nursing practice expectations set by Osler, the regulatory practice standards of the College of Nurses and the legislative requirements set by the Regulated Health Professions Act. You will function as a dynamic and innovative member of a multidisciplinary team providing direct care of patients suffering with serious or moderate mental health illnesses. The successful candidate will provide direct nursing practice, through assessment, monitoring and administration of patients receiving long acting injectable antipsychotics and oral Clozapine medication. You will be leading the long acting injectable, Clozapine and health and wellness program. You will be involved with providing health teaching, case management, individual and group counseling. As part of a team you will be involved in data collection and aware of research methodology and evaluations leading to the development of hospital policies and procedures. You are expected to apply your knowledge, skill and critical thinking throughout the nursing process. And adherence to the ethics and professional standards outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. The functions of this position will be performed in a caring, professional, and non-judgmental manner using ethical and evidence based practice guidelines.
