Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution and processing companies in North America servicing customers and suppliers primarily in Canada, the United States, and on occasion worldwide. The Company operates in three business segments: service centre distribution, energy sector pipe, tube, valve and fitting distribution and steel import/export distribution. We provide steel processing and distribution services to a broad base of approximately 18, 000 end users through a network of 70 North American branches.
Russel Metals Inc. is currently seeking an individual for the position of Scheduling/Sales Assistant in our Stoney Creek, Ontario location.
This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the Production Schedule for the Cut-to-length and Slitting lines and helping with various administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate will be customer service focused, highly organized, with a “willing to learn” attitude.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong customer service focus: Ability to interface and communicate with internal & external customers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, particularly Excel) (Understanding of Software Programming).

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accuracy of the Production Schedule.
  • Back up to the dispatch list for material pickups with internal and external trucking.
  • Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Logistics and Operations to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Notify Sales when it appears an order will be completed late with reason for the delay & new delivery date.
