To assist with the provision of Cardio-Respiratory services throughout the Trust and partnership agencies and to ensure the delivery of a high standard and quality service. This role will be predominantly based within the community setting providing a spirometry service.
To ensure courtesy, privacy, confidentiality and respect at all times to patients, relatives, staff and colleagues.
1. Working accurately and in accordance with the relevant guidelines, plan, undertake and perform baseline respiratory measurements, including Spirometry with reversibility, Pulse oximetry, inhaled nitric oxide levels and sleep studies. You will provide basic interpretation as required on a range of diagnostic assessments seeking advice from senior staff when necessary]
2. Ensure that equipment is calibrated in line with manufacturer’s guidelines and in full working order. Reporting to senior staff/ EBME department if this is not the case.
3. Undertaking quality control procedures for the equipment and completing documentation. Ensure safe use of the equipment at all times including replacing any disposable components after each patient.
4. Take a brief clinical history of the patient, ensuring that there are no clinical contra-indications to the test being performed and putting the patient’s health at risk. Make decisions autonomously in the best interests of the patients deciding whether it is appropriate to carry out the investigations.
