A 1st Class Outside Machinist is responsible for installing, aligning, and maintaining shipboard machinery and mechanical systems using blueprints, precision tools, and hand tools in a shipyard environment. Essential Functions: Install vessel machinery through the use of blueprints and hand tools Read and interpret standard construction drawings, specifications, and other technical publications Apply knowledge of system start-up procedures, propulsion system alignment, and machinery plants Familiarize with all aspects of craft-specific marine construction from design through installation and operational testing Perform tasks related to air controls and tubing bending Conduct operational testing of installed systems Requirements Minimum of 1 year of marine experience or 1 years of continuous Company experience Good working knowledge of system start-up procedures, propulsion system alignment, and machinery plants Knowledge of how to use necessary tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, heavy jacks, chain falls, torch, etc.) Some experience or background in welding
