Consultants: Cardiac anesthesiologists will serve as consultants for preoperative case planning for patients with severe cardiopulmonary disease and may be asked to provide direct clinical care for such patients for patients having both cardiac and non-cardiac surgery. Other Non-Clinical Roles: Quality Improvement and Patient Safety: Cardiac anesthesiologists will participate in the development and integration of quality improvement and patient safety pathways and protocols at Naples Community Hospital. They will also be asked to participate in local morbidity and mortality conferences for Naples Community Hospital and/or Rooney Heart Institute. Teaching: Cardiac anesthesiologists will be expected to assist with teaching of trainees (including students and fellows), CRNAs, or staff in a variety of settings including intraoperative environments and medical simulation. Qualifications All USAP Anesthesiologists must be either an M.D. or D.O. with the completion of an approved Anesthesiology Residency program. Board eligible or board certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) for Anesthesiology practice. Board-eligible anesthesiologists must complete the required steps for ABA certification in Anesthesiology within one year of start date. Anesthesiologists are required to participate in the ABA’s Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA) program.
