CDD is a non-profit community-based organization that supports individuals with developmental disABILITIES in their own homes throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area. We have been doing this for over 50 years with the goal of adding 50+ more in our sight. Speaking of goals, CDD offers incentives based on meeting agency-wide goals.
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
PALS U Careers is an important part of the PALS University. The Employment Specialist supports individuals with disabilities in gaining competitive employment. This position assesses skills; assists with career exploration, discovery and planning activities; teaches employment-related skills through pre-employment training; and provides on-the-job and retention supports. Ensures supports provided meet organizational guidelines, funder requirements and accreditation standards. The PALS University Employment Specialist (ES) facilitates service delivery by providing instruction, modeling desired skills and behaviors, assisting with problem-solving, and adapting planned activities and method of engagement as needed to individual’s needs and circumstances. PALS ES will create and plan activity schedules based in each individual career interest. The PALS ES will work in conjunction with and under the direction of the PALS U Specialist to assist with the development, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of each individual’s personal outcomes as outlined in their Person-Centered Service Plan. PALS ES may work in partnership with business contracts as well as individual placements.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/GED

One year of related experience
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Must have valid driver’s license and car insurance and be able to drive and transport individuals in own vehicle, as well in agency van.
