Prior to submitting your application, please review the attached Additional Information Sheet carefully for the position of Annual Participation Measure (APM) Schools Link Worker alongside the generic Project Worker 2 job description, before applying to ensure that the job matches your skills and experience. Barnardo’s Works is an employability service working in partnership with associated employers to provide young people aged 16-29 (and parents up to the age of 35 in Dundee), with a unique blend of personal support and accredited training, matched with quality work experience and the opportunity for sustainable, independent employment. This is a new, unique role within our team.
Barnardo’s is delighted to be part of the ”All in Dundee” Consortium of Third Sector Training Providers led by ENABLE Works in Dundee. This project is funded by Dundee City Council. This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week, and 100% of working hours will be dedicated to the role of Annual Participation Measure (APM) School Link Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing towards the delivery of the Discover Work Partnership’s Positive Destinations Framework, which has the following mission statement: “Every young person in Dundee is entitled to access a suitable and appropriate post-school opportunity.” This new post will act as an integral link between the Secondary Schools across Dundee and the range of employability provision available; thus ensuring that each young person is matched to a suitable post-school opportunity, receives after-care support and is picked up and supported if they do not sustain a post-school offer.
This post will attend weekly Positive Destinations Meetings in the Secondary Schools, chaired by the Deputy Heads responsible for Positive Destinations, and they will ensure effective signposting routes and the monitoring and reporting of progress made by each young person; providing regular updates to the schools to support the ongoing tracking of young people post school. It is important that young people are matched to the right provision, so this post will build strong relationships with employability providers across the City and will develop a strong understanding of each organisation’s offer.
For further details on the role, and the skills/qualities/experience we are looking for, please refer to the Additional Information Sheet. This is a permanent (fixed-term funded) post, i.e. funding confirmed until 31/03/26, however there is a 5-year funding framework up until 31/03/2029. Starting salary is £29,148.60 per annum.
Please note due to the high volume of applications for some posts, this advert might close before the displayed closing date. We recommend that you apply for this role as soon as possible.
Pay & Reward Framework
We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo’s values. We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.
For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our People & Culture Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo’s and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.
Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. More details on Barnardo’s pay framework can be found upon application.
