Job Summary As supervised and delegated by a Registered Nurse, provides direct patient care in the clinical setting. Essential Functions Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes. Decisions made reflect knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required and good judgment. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over patient life span and the skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the patient population served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group. Apply principles of sterile techniques and infection control procedures. Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. Maintains current knowledge of medications and IV fluids and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition. Assists with establishment of plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires. Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation. Assists other nursing staff with the delivery of nursing care. Consults other providers as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. Coordinate patient services with referring physician / facility. Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific area of work.
