Overview The purpose of this role is to support clients within our Fund Services division as the AML subject matter expert and key escalation for internal stakeholders. In this role you will work alongside the groups AML team to review and determine investors have met all AML/KYC requirements for our Asset Manager or Custodian clients. As the Lead, AML Investor Onboarding Officer, you are the 1st Line of Defence and play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks for our Fund Service clients. You’ll work at the frontline of MUFG CM Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) function—ensuring compliance, supporting investigations, and driving continuous improvement. You will be client facing as the Fund Services subject matter expert for AML and required to attend client meetings on a regular basis Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities Strategic Focus  * Monitoring and conducting investigations of customers' accounts following AML/KYC,  * Conduct AML/KYC reviews by gathering information from public sources, source tools and customers * Review Customer Due Diligence (CDD) reports completed by internal stakeholders and escalate to our clients for them to perform Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD). * Perform Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD), and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), and sanction screening reviews * Monitor customer transactions and identify suspicious behaviour * Prepare and report Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) * Identify reportable accounts by determining the tax residency of account holders. * Maintain documentation and evidence supporting due diligence outcomes. * Client facing for strategic partnership clients within the Fund Services division Operational Management  * Prompt escalation of issues / risks identified within specified SLAs * First point of contact for queries with regards to account set up applications from within the fund services team as well as other internal stakeholders. * Providing SME support to both onshore and offshore team with regards to account setup queries * Respond to information requests by reviewing and preparing KYC documents for Low, Medium, and High-risk customers.  * Liaise with our client on AML/KYC requirements for our clients’ investors * Manage your own work allocation and meet daily and monthly productivity targets * Maintain accurate and timely updates in metric trackers and workflow systems * Collaborate with teams across risk, compliance, and technology * Support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence People Leadership  * Foster collaboration across departments within MUFG Corporate Markets to ensure a unified approach to AML compliance. * Work closely with AML group and operational counterparts to develop and adhere to global AML standards, ensuring consistency and alignment across MUFG’s global operations. * Create an impact fostering positive client experiences when engaging on AML.KYC requirements Governance & Risk  * Identify and mitigate existing and emerging operational risks, ensuring operational business controls are effective and that policies / procedures are clearly defined and adhered to. * Ensure all statutory regulations are adhered to and implement best practice AML/CTF/Sanctions and fraud mitigation processes. * Routinely advise on complex issues, recommend solutions to deliver effective and efficient solutions to applicable stakeholders.
