Overview Shimmick is seeking a Project Manager in San Pedro, California. As a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing all phases of construction, ensuring safety, compliance, and timely delivery while coordinating with multiple stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, engineers, and field crews. This is an exciting opportunity to support an established and growing organization; bring your talents to Shimmick and help us build the infrastructure of tomorrow. This project for the Port of Los Angeles (Port) includes significant electrical, structural, and civil improvements to support shore power — also known as Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) — and modern cruise terminal operations. Scope includes construction of a new Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) 34.5-kV industrial station, installation of medium-voltage switchgear and shore power infrastructure, concrete wharf repairs, installation of a hybrid fender system, utility upgrades, and site improvements that enhance pedestrian and vehicular access, safety, and security. The project supports long-term sustainability objectives by strengthening aging marine infrastructure and enabling vessels to connect to shore power while docked, significantly reducing emissions. Responsibilities The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Managing project implementation including schedule, budgets, quality and safety. Resource planning and management - including managing company resources assigned to the project as well as third party vendors, designers, fabricators and contractors. Direct the efforts of the full engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction management, and commissioning team in creating the execution plans, organization, and contracts needed to deliver the project within the stated cost and schedule. Continue to build a positive relationship with highly important & strategic clients who have significant future work in the area. Preparing and issuing Progress Reports and ensuring timely payments. Monitoring compliance with various regulatory statues as well as compliance with applicable Shimmick policies and procedures. Project stakeholder management and interface. Creation and implementation of Project Updates – Job Status Reports and Quarterly EAC Reports. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 6+ years of relevant expereince or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Strong understanding of construction contracts and risk mitigation. Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years' experience involving heavy civil or electrical construction projects. Water and wastewater treatment plant construction project experience. Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Primavera P6. Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail. Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders. Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks. Highly organized with excellent time management skills. Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skill. Excellent project management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands in deadline-driven environment.
