Description
Role Overview:

This is a great opportunity to start your engineering career on a new AI team in Sydney. You'll help build and maintain Enrich - our AI data-enrichment product that finds, identifies and codifies data in unstructured documents - and contribute to new AI and agentic capability in the Nuix Neo platform. You'll learn across a modern stack (Java, Python, React/TypeScript/MUI) with support from senior and principal engineers, in a supportive, cross-timezone team.

As an Associate Software Engineer you focus on completing well-scoped tasks to a high standard, learning our practices and tools, and building the habits of a strong engineer.

Location:

This position will be based in our Sydney office. The candidate is required to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week but may voluntarily elect to work either remotely or from the Sydney office for the remaining 2 days of the week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete regular tasks and tickets promptly and to a high quality, delivering progress frequently.
  • Manually test your code and include meaningful tests before raising a pull request.
  • Communicate ideas clearly (written and verbal) and keep tickets updated with progress.
  • Participate actively in scrum ceremonies - providing and challenging estimates - and in team and community discussions.
  • Contribute to wiki and documentation.
  • Seek help when needed, act on code-review feedback, and reduce rework over time.
  • Understand and adhere to the SDLC and delivery process.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Around 1+ years of related experience (including internships, placements or strong project work); graduates with the right foundation are welcome.
  • Foundational programming ability, ideally in Java, Python or React/TypeScript.
  • Eagerness to learn, a proactive and positive mindset, and the ability to take constructive feedback and act on it.
  • Curiosity about AI/ML and document-intelligence problems is a plus.

Nuix is an equal opportunities employer. Don’t let imposter syndrome hold you back! We welcome all applications and are a flexible employer.

We strive to make any required adjustments where possible to make the process fair and equitable for everyone. If you need any accommodations throughout the interview process, please note this in your job application.
