Anyone wanting to carrying out works on the road network in Leicestershire will need to apply for a permit before starting; typically this is utility companies, LCC and anyone that is working on a development for which planning permission has been granted and that affects the highway. The objectives of the permit scheme are to: • Improve journey times and reliability for all road users • Reduce congestion caused by roadworks • Improve the information available on road works, including advanced warning and duration details • Increase the planning and control of works to improve safety and reduce damage to the road Working with and providing support to a Network Coordinator and Streetworks Compliance Inspector your focus will be on a specific region of the County’s road network. As a Network Management Technician you will be responsible for assessing permit applications, [making corrections and appropriate suggestions as required], and then issuing licenses to allow works to proceed. You will also support the Street Works Compliance Inspector, who carry out inspections on the network, by providing them with information, improvement notices or sanctions, including issuing penalties. In addition, you may also support the monitoring of progress and a satisfactory conclusion of any remedial works and report any non-compliance for further action. As the nature of the work may involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours at different locations than their designated base, you need the ability to travel to locations across the County as required. About You To apply for this post, you must hold or have: NVQ3 or equivalent, i.e. BTEC in Civil Engineering or A-Levels A-C in relevant subjects, OR demonstratable evidence of skills and experience with a commitment to attaining the essential qualifications (supported by Leicestershire County Council) Strong customer focus and able to liaise with customers and clients.
