THIS IS A FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT FOR 9 MONTHS TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE. THE START DATE IS 1 JULY 2025.
The Department of Government, a large and vibrant academic unit within the LSE, is seeking to appoint a dedicated, diligent and highly organised Research Manager to provide managerial support to all areas of its departmental research activity.
This role has three core responsibilities. The role-holder will: support faculty to win internal and external research funding and project manage its research projects; support the Deputy Head of Department (Research) to prepare the Department’s REF submission; and manage the Department’s research governance, strategy, funding and culture. You will provide support to Faculty possessing editorships for leading journals, and support the creation and management of the Department’s Departmental Research Units, Research Groups and Research Centres. You will also work closely with the Department Manager, Deputy Head of Department (Research) and Communications and Events Manager to increase the profile of the Department’s research activities and impact.
Candidates should have experience of academic administration within the Higher Education sector or research administration, and experience of financial management. You must also have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to anticipate, prioritise, plan and organise your own workload, and the workload of others, to meet a range of deadlines.
