Install and Improvements Technician
Location: Coulsdon, Surrey (regular local travel, furthest upto 1:20)
Salary: £32,000–£40,000 per year depending on experience
Hours: 08:00–16:00 Mon–Fri (1-hour paid break). Morning meeting at 08:00 every day.

How your week feels

• On site days you join the 08:00 morning meeting by video from site, then you crack on with clean ducting, routing and mounting fittings, tidy terminations and safe core drilling. You take photos and simple as-built notes as you go, so handover is easy.
• In the unit you start with our 08:00 short run, stretch and meeting, then you pre-prep boxes and drivers so installs are plug-and-play. You also take on small projects that make the workshop better: a rack here, a labelled bay there, a tool board that stops hunting for bits.
• You keep the van and your bays under 3S (Sort, Set in order, Shine) so everything is ready at a glance.

What you will do day to day

• Install garden lighting: ducting, joint boxes, mounting fittings, tidy terminations, safe use of a core drill, producing as-built notes and photos
• Site pre-prep in the unit: drill and seal boxes, pre-install drivers and switchgear, label and bag fittings by zone so site days run smoothly
• Build and improve: simple racking and benches, lighting tweaks, labels, Kanban cards, basic maintenance
• Kit and pack: pick parts, label and quality-check, record serials, keep van and bays clean and restocked

What you bring

• Strong hands-on skills with power tools and fixings; comfortable outdoors year-round
• Tidy, organised and methodical; you like checklists and leaving a site cleaner than you found it
• Able to read simple drawings and follow RAMS/method statements
• Full UK driving licence and confident in a van
• Nice to have: basic wiring, carpentry, welding and fab of light metalwork, first aid

Hours and travel

• Standard workday is 08:00–16:00 with a paid 1-hour break. Morning meeting at 08:00 every day.
• The company EV van lives at the unit. All site days start and end at the unit; you sign in/out on the tablet when you collect/return the van.
• All time from van pick-up to van drop-off counts toward the day. Any time beyond 8.0 hours is paid as travel time at your standard hourly rate. If the total is 8.0 hours or less there is no extra travel pay.
• If you return to the unit early and have hours remaining, you finish the day with unit work.

We design and manufacture garden lighting in Coulsdon and have recently started to deliver neat, reliable installs.
