Description

About the role
West Northamptonshire is undergoing one of the most ambitious periods of regeneration in its history. From transforming Northampton town centre through landmark projects like Greyfriars and Four Waterside, to unlocking new housing and employment opportunities at strategic sites such as St James Depot, we are reshaping our places to create thriving, inclusive communities and a stronger local economy.
The Major Projects and Regeneration Team, part of our Place, Economy and Environment directorate, is at the heart of delivering this vision. Working with government, private sector partners and our local communities, we are driving forward projects funded by the Towns Fund, Future High Street Fund, and UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with further opportunities that are made available through future investment programmes.
As Regeneration Manager, you will play a pivotal role in turning this vision into reality. Leading a skilled and motivated team, you will oversee a diverse programme of major regeneration projects—ensuring robust governance, clear reporting to project boards and government, and the development of strong business cases to secure future investment. You’ll also help shape the next wave of regeneration by identifying funding opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and championing innovative, place-led approaches that deliver lasting economic, social and environmental impact across West Northamptonshire.
What will you be doing?
As Regeneration Manager, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of West Northamptonshire’s towns and communities. Leading on Masterplanning and major regenerations schemes, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our towns of Northampton, Daventry, Brackley and Towcester, driving forward ambitious projects that deliver lasting economic and social benefits.
You will act as the lead officer on flagship schemes including the transformational Greyfriars redevelopment and other strategic growth sites, ensuring they are delivered to the highest standards and in line with the Council’s vision for inclusive and sustainable growth. This will include leading the development of town centre masterplans, setting the strategic vision for how our places evolve, and working with developers, funders, and government to unlock new investment opportunities.
You will provide strong programme and strategic leadership, overseeing a talented team of regeneration professionals to ensure projects are effectively governed, risks are manage, and performance is robustly monitored. Acting as a key advisor to senior officers, members and boards, you will ensure decision makers are fully briefed through clear and timely reporting on progress, funding and key risks.
Partnership working will be central to your role. You will build and maintain strong relationships with private sector developers, government departments, and local communities, negotiating high value and often complex regeneration deals to secure the best outcomes for West Northamptonshire. You will also lead on the preparation of compelling business cases and funding bids to secure new investment, ensuring that the Council continues to deliver a pipeline of transformational regeneration projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in defining the identity and economic future of a fast-growing area, creating places where people want to live, work and thrive.
