JOB SUMMARY The Marketing and Communications Manager position plays a fundamental role in establishing the marketing strategy for Hope’s Home as well as plans, creates, delivers, and monitors all external facing communications.  This position works closely with Hope’s Home Fundraising Team to support the many operational and capital fundraising activities and events throughout the year.  This position supervises the Marketing and Communications Administrator and reports directly to the CEO. RESPONSIBILITIES  Marketing and Communication Management Duties * Lead the planning, development, and delivery of external communications and marketing strategies that align with Hope's Home strategic plan. * Assist in developing the annual fundraising budget and operates campaigns within the budget. * Establish, evaluate, and report on goals and outcomes for marketing campaigns and projects. * Plan and manage media campaigns including negotiating all media rates and charges. * Responsible for content development, management, and production of all external materials such as the annual report, website, social media, email solicitations, fundraising event materials, brochures, presentations, and donor stewardship projects.  * Manage and evolve Hope’s Home social media accounts by creating scheduled (daily and weekly) content, designing campaigns, and analyzing performance and engagement. * Monitor Hope’s Home social media and respond to comments and inquiries from the public. * Create content, orchestrate updates, and maintain Hope’s Home website independently and in collaboration with a contracted agency. * Implement e-communications best practices to increase the Hope’s Home donation revenues.  * Provide internal communications guidance regarding audience, communication medium, timing, and best practices. * Lead internal communications projects, develop project proposals and plans, provide task direction, create announcements, and reminders.  * Manage and maintain the consistency of key messages, both internally and externally, to maintain brand integrity.  * Ensure the Hope’s Home brand is leveraged in all organizational events and promotions.  * Write all media releases. * Research, assess, and implement search engine optimization strategies for Hope’s Home website. * Analyze and report on effectiveness of website, social media, and other media campaigns. * Research trends to keep current on advancing communication strategies and technology.  Human Resources * Hire, train and supervise reporting staff. * Onboard new employees: * Provide new employee orientation. * Provide training on standard practices, policies, and procedures. * Coach and mentor staff in ways that align with Hope’s Home values and principles.  * Set operational and professional development goals and objectives with all staff; provide regular feedback and conduct evaluations. * Facilitate employee relations meetings with staff, listen to concerns providing insight and guidance, and making recommendations for appropriate actions. * Conduct investigations when needed and address employee behavior as outlined in Hope’s Home policy. * Approve and submit staff timesheets. * Complete employee termination paperwork and conduct exit Interview. * Maintain confidentiality of all internal matters pertaining to the organization and its operations. Administrative Duties * Help plan and participate in events and fundraisers throughout the province. * Support the Provincial Fundraising Manager with event organization, tracking, budgeting, and creating marketing material. * Oversee direct report personnel files are complete and all internal documentation on employees updated as required. * Research trends to keep current on advancing communication strategies and technology. * Respond to external inquiries related to Hope’s Home promotions. * Additional duties as assigned.  Occupational Health and Safety * Create a psychologically safe work environment (resolve conflicts in respectful ways and ensure a fair resolution, provide an environment where employees feel safe and supported to share ideas, listen, learn from, and seek to understand the ideas of others). * Complete all required OHS training. * Monitor, report and resolve any safety hazards in the work environment.   QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum of diploma, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field and/or experience may be considered. * Accreditation with International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) is an asset. * Minimum 5 years’ experience developing and managing communications, marketing, and branding initiatives, preferably in the not-for-profit sector. * Experience with website content management, social media, and video production. * Experience with analytic reporting tools and reporting metrics. * Experience working with external service providers including agencies, creative consultants, production suppliers and media. * Strong knowledge of: * Adobe Creative Suite * Social Media tools (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) * WordPress * Graphic design * Valid driver's license. SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Demonstrated leadership in the areas of marketing and communications. * Strategic thinker and highly creative.  * Strong collaborator and team player; able to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships both internally and externally. * Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills, strong interpersonal skills, and highly developed organizational abilities. * Proven organizational and project management skills with ability to multi-task, handle competing priorities and manage project deadlines. * Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills. * Sound knowledge of video production. * Strong work ethic and able to work independently and in a team.  * Strong computer skills in the use of Microsoft products (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint).  WORKING CONDITIONS * Work hours – Monday to Friday, typical business hours with some flexibility. * Eight hours a day – 40 hours a week. * Occasional overnight travel in the province is required. * Extra hours in addition to the standard workday may be required at times. * Attend and volunteer at fundraising events. Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and OT required at times.
