Description

The CalSTRS Retirement Readiness Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Associate Governmental Program Analyst, willing to consider Staff Services Analyst, on the Scheduling & Estimates Team.
The Retirement Readiness (RR) Division is the principal area of the organization that develops, delivers, and coordinates educational services to CalSTRS members, employers, and staff. The goal of RR is to ensure that all members receive adequate, timely, and accurate information in order to make sound decisions regarding their CalSTRS benefits.
Are you seeking work in a fast paced environment? Do you want to work with diverse individuals on a great team? Do you like to work with numbers and complete complex calculations? Are you interested in assisting teachers over the phone to ensure they can plan for their retirement? If you answered yes to these questions this is the opportunity for you. Come and work for the scheduling and estimates team in our beautiful headquarters building in West Sacramento, overlooking the Sacramento River. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by.
Under direction of the Scheduling & Estimates Pension Program Manager I, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst operating as the Scheduling & Estimates Associate Analyst independently performs the more complex tasks that require interpreting and accurately explaining the California Education Code, policy memos, administrative directives, management memoranda, CalSTRS benefits, and a range of CalSTRS programs.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Ability to listen effectively and provide excellent customer service.
  • Dependable, maintain excellent attendance, and possess strong work habits.
  • Experience with data entry and utilizing software programs (i.e. MS Office and Adobe).
  • Ability to work independently and across divisions and units, as well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to provide training to staff as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to complete complex calculations.

Duties will be adjusted at the Staff Services Analyst level.
Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.
In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025. This program reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits for the duration of the program. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the reduced amounts.
