SUMMARY
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

The Chief for Mental Health Service, Supervisory Psychologist, is responsible for defining the mission and vision of the mental health program, developing the scope of practice for employees assigned, designing plan of care, and assuring implementation of quality improvement measures along with developing action plans to meet performance measures. improvement measures along with developing action plans to meet performance measures. The incumbent is responsible for developing, planning, clarifying, administering, and managing the Mental Health Service Line at the VA Roseburg Healthcare System (VARHS).
FUNCTIONS OR SCOPE OF ASSIGNED DUTIES
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES (20% of time) During clinical time the incumbent will
A. Diagnose and treat mental disorders using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care.
B. Perform assessments and evaluations for veterans with a variety of mental health disorders.
C. Provide supervision, as appropriate, of trainees conducting direct clinical care.
D. Be responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center as appropriate and outcome data as appropriate.
E. Consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.
F. Remain involved in program evaluation.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES (80% OF TIME)
A. Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staff.
B. Has direct administrative supervision of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, registered nurses, addiction therapists and administrative staff.
C. Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees.
D. Serves on Medical Center, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces.
E. Represents Mental Health Service on decision-making committees at the Medical Center.
F. Represents the Medical Center at professional/program community group/events and committees.
G. Responsible for coordination of a mental health response in the event of critical occurrences of violence at the facility, disasters, and/or mass casualty occurrences.
H. Develops responses to controlled correspondence at the Medical Center, VISN, and VACO levels as directed.
I. Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs using data-driven quality assurance processes.
J. Is responsible for timely completion of all program evaluations and documents required by the Medical Center, VISN, and VACO, ensuring compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies (such as JCAHO) and monitoring entities (such as NEPEC), as appropriate.
