As part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research’s continued commitment to building an exceptional intellectual community and advancing innovation and scientific excellence, we are pleased to announce the availability of up to four tenure-track assistant professor positions as part of the new Catalyst Faculty Cluster Program. With this cluster, we are seeking to build a new cross-disciplinary team that will advance Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment from the bench to the bedside, through a multi-pronged translational approach that leverages technological advances in neuromodulation, data science, and AI.
The Departments of Psychiatry, Health Behavior, Biomedical Engineering, and Neurosurgery Medicine, the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, and the School of Data Science and Society, and partners in the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies and the Renaissance Computing Institute seek to hire one individual in each of the following research areas: neuroengineering, biomolecular data science and drug discovery, clinical-translational psychiatry, and health behavior. Each candidate hired will have their home in one or more of the participating departments listed above. Candidates will be expected to build an extramurally funded research program and contribute to department and University service, teaching, and clinical service (if applicable) according to relevant departmental expectations. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) oversees, develops, supports, and grows UNC-Chapel Hill’s $1 billion research enterprise. The offices reporting to the OVCR set strategic priorities for research, manage proposals and awards, provide research infrastructure, identify funding opportunities, develop research teams and partnerships, oversee regulatory compliance, and communicate the impact and value of the University’s research enterprise. The OVCR enables research endeavors for faculty, students, and scholars; encourages interdisciplinary research collaboration across campus; and fosters expansion and diversification of the University’s sponsored research portfolio by collaborating with foundations, federal agencies, corporations, and the state and federal governments. The Vice Chancellor for Research also oversees multiple pan-University, multidisciplinary research centers and institutes.
