SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous cleaning or hygiene experience in a food manufacturing or similar environment (preferred but not always required).
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals safely.
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning schedules.
• Physical stamina for standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive cleaning tasks.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

JOB PURPOSE

To maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in a food production environment, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and company procedures. This role is essential in preventing contamination, maintaining product quality, and supporting safe operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and coordinate cleaning staff schedules and daily activities.
• Monitor and maintain cleaning supplies, ordering replacements as needed.
• Assign cleaning duties and inspect work to ensure high-quality standards are met.
• Use cleaning chemicals and tools safely, following COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) guidelines.
• Remove waste and dispose of it in accordance with hygiene and environmental policies.
• Maintain cleaning records and checklists to meet audit and compliance requirements.
• Report maintenance issues, equipment faults, or safety hazards to the manager.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhere to all health and safety rules.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Work as part of the hygiene team to complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks.
