EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Candidates should ideally hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an engineering field, or alternatively an MBA. While these educational qualifications are preferred. However, a minimum of 15 years of experience is essential, with a proven track record in management of technical and/or engineering disciplines is required.
Experience in working in a regulated industry, preferably Medical Device is required.

At BD, the Advanced Patient Monitoring (APM) R&D Organization is dedicated to delivering innovative products to our patients and customers and Advancing the World of Health. As a member of the APM R&D Leadership Team, the Vice President, Engineering is a strategic and technical leader who will lead multiple technical functions within the organization. These functions will include Electronics System Design and Embedded Software Development and potentially other R&D disciplines. As a senior leader within the R&D organization, this individual is responsible for driving innovation, development and execution of electronics and embedded software solutions across APM’s product portfolio and will be expected to act as a technical leader on one or more projects of varying levels of complexity. They will also represent the R&D Electronics and Embedded Software functions in the due diligence activities associated with M&A projects.
This role will work collaboratively with other R&D functional organizations such as Algorithm Development, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering and Software Engineering to deliver value added innovation projects to the market. They will also work closely with the R&D Project Management Office to support the scheduling, controlling, reporting and risk management/mitigation of projects.
As part of delivering products to market, this leader will be expected to partner with cross functional leaders and resources across the business. This includes Marketing, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Clinical and Medical Affairs, and Legal.
Additional responsibilities include strategic planning and budgeting, interaction and presentations with senior BD and APM leadership, talent acquisition, management and development and innovation pipeline management.
