Description

NHFT is a dedicated provider of integrated mental health, community care, and secured services across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Our secured services operate with a clear vision: to offer compassionate, patient-cantered, trauma-informed care that is easily accessible and fosters respect across all identities, including age, race, religion, and gender. We are deeply committed to building a foundation based on mutual respect and open communication in every aspect of our work.
We understand that addressing unmet health needs can positively influence reduced reoffending rates. Our multidisciplinary teams work within safe, supportive environments, ensuring patients with both short- and long-term conditions receive respectful, individualized care. We believe in collaboration and in our collective ability to make a real difference for those we serve.
The post holder will contribute significantly to the secured services team, delivering essential pharmacy support to residents within custody and immigration removal centres. Reporting to the Lead Pharmacist – HMP Peterborough, they will assist Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in providing safe, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical services. This includes supporting medicines management, primary care, health promotion, and patient education to meet residents’ unique healthcare needs in secured settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and professional support to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Work closely with the pharmacy team to deliver high-quality patient care and services.
  • Support the management of medicines and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams, the post holder will help ensure patients receive compassionate, trauma-informed care within the constraints of secure environments, always upholding security protocols and patient confidentiality.
In every interaction, we seek to engage patients and value their feedback. Through engagement groups and ongoing feedback channels, we constantly evolve and innovate our services to meet their needs effectively and compassionately.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.

  • You will demonstrate empathy and respect, recognising each resident’s unique needs with a trauma-informed approach to all interactions.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, honesty, and ethical practice, taking responsibility for actions and upholding NHFT policies.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care, sharing knowledge to foster a culture of learning and support.
  • Champion NHFT’s inclusivity by respecting individuals of all backgrounds, fostering an environment of mutual respect.
  • Engage in feedback to drive personal and team growth, proactively seeking ways to enhance patient experience.
  • Be a welcoming presence for both colleagues and residents, creating an open and supportive environment.
  • Communicate clearly and reliably, building trust through consistent and empathetic interactions.
  • Lead by example, inspiring high standards in medicine safety and administration while adapting to a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, handling interruptions professionally and using initiative to resolve issues.
