POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Scope
Reporting to the General Manager, accountable for all aspects of property management in accordance with the hotel mission statement, including meeting financial objectives per budget , guest satisfaction, and associate development within established brand & service quality standards. Co-ordinate the day to day operations of the front office and engineering departments, supervising staff and minimizing operating and capital expenditures and optimizing staff productivity and engagement.
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversees overall day-to-day hotel operations focusing on Front Office and Maintenance, as delegated by the General Manager. Maintaining a preventative maintenance program, ensuring maintenance supplies are in stock , keeping the maintenance shop organized and clean and scheduling staff based on occupancy.
- Participates in the development and implementation of financial and operational plans for the hotel which support the overall objectives of the hotel.
- Assists General Manager with the execution of marketing, sales, and operational activities; producing results that meet or exceed the hotel’s business plan.
- Ensures that Revenue optimization practices are being followed and the teams are using the Hilton Revenue Management System and Hilton OnQ Property Management System.
- Develops and implements programs and strategies with the General Manager to meet targets such as the preventative maintenance program and energy saving initiatives.
- Obtain and Reviews quotes from and hires outside contractors
- Liaises with the General Manager and department heads for more effective and efficient operations
- Supervises staff, interviewing and hiring new staff, carrying our performance appraisals, directing the training and development of staff, carrying out and documenting progressive disciplinary action and recommending termination.
- Ensures that staff and outside contractors comply with health, safety and fire regulations, building and municipal codes and hotel policies and procedures
- Prepares & approves staff scheduling for the Front Desk , Maintenance and payroll together with the General Manager. Assists the General Manager with the monitoring of the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and financial reports. Suggests and implements corrective actions.
- Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints. Suggests and implements corrective actions.
- Creates an operating environment and mechanisms that assures consistent guest satisfaction. Ensures proper handling of guest complaints.
- Establishes and maintains a pro-active human resource function to ensure associate motivation, training and development, wage and benefits administration, and compliance with established labour and health & safety regulations and Union Contract.
- Supervises and motivates designated reports; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the hotel’s policies, SOPs, training programs, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensures compliance with TSSA , building and fire departments and sound safety practices of associates and guests; assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures.
- As required of all hotel associates, assists any customer or potential customer in a prompt, courteous, friendly, and helpful manner at all times.
- Complies with hotel and corporate policies and procedures.
- Performs all other tasks as assigned by Management as required.
