This position will provide direct instruction in computer technology and adaptations which allow blind and visually impaired individuals to succeed.  Duties & Responsibilities: (Note: The omission of specific job duties does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.) The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions: Provide technological training to Division and contractual staff when needed. Train using adaptive software which includes introduction to computer keyboard and use of various other programs such as Windows, word processing, internet, and email. Train staff and students on other specialty programs as well as portable note takers. Perform other teaching duties as assigned. Conduct initial evaluation of clients referred for training to determine level of skills, knowledge, and readiness for technology training. Maintain records of goals, participation in class, and progress of each student. Prepare periodic student progress reports. Develop lesson plans that reflect the daily objectives needed to meet established goals. Perform routine maintenance of equipment and supplies; keep inventory in good repair and make purchases as necessary. Attend workshops and conferences for professional growth; participate in public education as needed and serve as a resource person for staff, students, and the public. Recommend ancillary services such as audiology, low vision, and physical therapy, which would enhance students’ program. Assist in training volunteers or interns assigned to the Center.
