HOUSING COORDINATOR

Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society (LFVAS) is accepting applications for the Housing Coordinator position. The Housing Department is responsible for providing basic needs, harm reduction, housing, and general support to Langley’s Indigenous Population in accordance with our Mission and Mandate statements. This role also oversees our Women’s Program and Spirit Path House.
Reporting to the Program Manager or their designate, the Coordinator is responsible for the overall operation of the department, compiles data and reports to funders, attends events in community as an LFVAS representative, aids in assessing and determining the needs of individual clients, manages and provides support to outreach staff by maintaining a consistent office presence. The successful applicant must be comfortable administering Naloxone and being part of a team that delivers year-round street outreach to our most vulnerable and entrenched clients.
TERM: Start ASAP
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week- hours may vary including occasional evenings and week ends.
WORK LOCATION: Langley and surrounding areas
COMPENSATION: $36.84/hour, commensurate with education and experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma or degree with an emphasis on meeting the needs of vulnerable populations which may include disciplines and fields of study such as social work, mental health, addictions, psychology, nursing, CYC, or Indigenous Studies.
• Minimum 2 years management experience with direct reports in high stress environments
• Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED Level C or higher and able to administer Naloxone confidentially
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in case management, community outreach, mental health, addictions or housing programs in a front-line capacity.
• Exposure to or direct work history with principles of evidence-based practice, client centered approaches, and harm reduction models.
• Must be well versed in cultural sensitivity and have understanding and knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions and historical issues impacting urban Indigenous families.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills. Strong problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Must successfully complete Criminal Record Review for work with vulnerable adults and children.
  Reliable vehicle and a valid BC driver’s license preferred.
