Job Summary
Service educators lead the development, documentation and implementation of education programs that reflects sound knowledge and understanding of approved learning frameworks, and Believe Playschool’s Policies, that is stimulating, engaging and enhances children’s learning and development. Educators work in collaboration with other educators, room leaders and the Nominated Supervisor.
Support and actively plan for an inclusive environment by:
Support children’s individual wellbeing and comfort in sleep, rest and relaxation
Contribute to the development of an environment for children which:
o Is ready for operation at the beginning of each day
o Reflects children’s curiosity, exploration and problem solving

Key Duties

QA 1 - EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AND PRACTICE
Lead the team/room educators to plan, implement, assess and review high quality and diverse educational program based on appropriate curriculum frameworks and with reference to the NQS, considering the developmental needs, interests and abilities of all the children attending the service
Deliver and guide team/room educators to deliver effective and valuable documentation of children’s learning in accordance with the centre philosophy and the Learning Outcomes
Model and support team/room educators to utilize a variety of teaching strategies including intentional teaching and reflective practice in daily work
QA 2 - Children’s Health and Safety
1. Proactive with supervision, toileting, cleaning, hygiene, signs of illness/tiredness, behaviour guidance, checklists/charts
2. Mandatory Reporting
3. Ensure staff and children utilise effective health and hygiene practices, including meeting all regulations relating to food safety and preparation, medical management plans, risk management plans, policies and procedures
4. Plan opportunities promote health, wellbeing and physical exercise in the service
5. Responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all employees (including self), children, students on placement, volunteers, contractors, visitors and members of the public who may be affected by our work
QA 3 - Physical Environment
Preparing/setting up resources experiences/activities, adjusting and/or setting up meaningful environments to facilitate play-based learning, ensure safety, and respond to children’s interests and developmental needs
Ensure that all children have access to nutritious food and fresh drinking water
Plan, implement and ensure a safe and stimulating physical environment where all staff and children are protected from hazards and harm

Actively support every child to participate in the program and ensure that the program promotes children’s agency, choices, and influence

Is respectful, polite and welcoming in greeting and communicating with families

Ensure all practices are in accordance with the NQS and reflect the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the service
Lead and promote an understanding of the NQS, the NQF and the curriculum framework documents within the team/room
Complete any collection data, medical or other records required in a timely manner, and in accordance with the service’s policies and procedures and the NQS
Assist the director/coordinator or assistant director/coordinator in matters relating to leadership, pedagogical leadership, management support, service admin, as directed
Be ready, willing and qualified to act in the position of the certified supervisor in the temporary absence of the director/coordinator and assistant director/coordinator
Ensure activities comply with National Law and regulations, WHS legislation, NQS, EYLF, Child protection legislation, Believe Playschool vision, mission, policies, procedure and strategic goals
Selection Criteria Qualifications
Hold an ACECQA approved Diploma level qualification
Ideally four years’ experience within Early Childhood Education sector
Ideally two years’ experience within a leadership role preferred
Current Working With Children Check
Current First Aid (HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting)
Current Food Handlers Basics certificate
Current CHCPRT025 Identify and Report Children and Young People at Risk or the previous CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
Experience
Experience in an approved education and care service, not inclusive of work placement
Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework
Demonstrated experience in curriculum, supporting curriculum development and documenting children’s learning and development
Capabilities
