EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of investment banking and/or private equity (direct buyout or fund-of-funds experience), with exceptional financial modelling and strong presentation skills
• Ideally, the candidate will have had some exposure to the technology sector, including sub-segments such as software, either through investment banking or investment experience

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• Demonstrated interest in the technology industry, including proactive following of industry and sector trends, company and GP developments, and public and private market data
• Advanced Excel skills, with strong technical foundation in corporate finance and accounting, including substantial experience in financial modelling and valuation analyses
• Advanced PowerPoint skills, with ability to present analyses in clean, creative & compelling ways
• High attention to detail and ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously
• Intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, with the ability to collect, distil and present information in a structured, concise and effective way
• Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with demonstrated ability to be proactive and work in an entrepreneurial setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with a clear team mindset, and comfort working collaboratively within a small core team and broader international platform

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Rothschild & Co Five Arrows, the private equity arm of the Rothschild & Co group, is looking for an Associate based in San Francisco to join the investment team of Five Arrows Global Technology, Rothschild & Co’s technology-focused private equity fund-of-funds program. The program invests across the entire technology lifecycle (buyouts, growth equity and venture capital), with a focus on the US. Five Arrows Global Technology invests through primary fund commitments to leading technology-focused GPs, complemented by co-investments and secondary investments.
The Associate will contribute to all aspects of the business, including the execution of investments, portfolio management and fundraising activities. The Associate will be a core member within a small and growing team, providing a unique and entrepreneurial opportunity to play an outsized role in helping to build a business under the umbrella of a well-established private equity platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the Five Arrows Global Technology team to perform due diligence of primary fund commitments, co-investments and secondary investments
• Analyze technology-focused private equity funds (buyout, growth equity and venture capital) and technology companies, including creating complex financial models, performing valuation analyses, and developing extensive investment presentations
• Monitor existing portfolio, maintain comprehensive portfolio model, perform extensive portfolio analytics, and prepare quarterly fund updates for investors and internal parties
• Support and participate in meetings with technology investment firms, assisting in meeting preparation, note taking and follow-ups
• Support fundraising activities, including investor reporting and communications, preparing investor pitches, maintaining investor target lists, and addressing investor requests
