Siding Spring Observatory (SSO) is the largest optical observatory in Australia and is an important site for astronomy, astrophysics and space science in Australia. Along with several active telescopes owned by the Australian National University, the site is home to the Anglo Australian Telescope (AAT), and many international facilities. SSO is located in the Warrumbungle mountains of northern New South Wales.
The facilities at SSO are operated by the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA) of the Australian National University. The research at RSAA covers the length and breadth of astronomy and astrophysics, ranging from planetary science to cosmology, instrumentation to theory.
RSAA invites applications from outstanding individuals with expertise in mechatronics for the position of Senior Technical Officer at Siding Spring Observatory (SSO). The Senior Technical Officer reports to the SSO Observatory Manager and supports high-quality research by designing, modifying, installing and maintaining experimental equipment and apparatus at the Observatory.
