Do you have the practical skills and patience to inspire young people as they prepare for working life? For many young people, the transition to adulthood can be overwhelming. Those facing additional barriers—such as social, emotional, or learning challenges—may struggle with self-regulation, engagement, and confidence. At New Meaning Training (NMT), we provide the structure, encouragement, and hands-on practical experience they need to take control of their future.
We’re looking for a Construction Multiskills Tutor who can engage and motivate young people through practical, hands-on learning. Many of our learners thrive with kinaesthetic, “learning by doing” approaches—especially in construction, where teamwork, problem-solving, and seeing tangible results can build both skills and confidence. Ideally, you’ll have experience working in construction trades or training others in practical skills, but we also know there are exceptional candidates who haven’t tutored before but have the right mindset and enthusiasm to excel. If you’re passionate about passing on your practical knowledge and want a meaningful career change, this could be the ideal opportunity. We’ll provide the training and support you need to step into the role.
Many of our learners have complex needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, attachment disorders, and social-emotional challenges, so patience, empathy, and adaptability are essential. At NMT, no two days are the same. You’ll lead practical construction sessions in areas like carpentry, tiling, decorating, and basic plumbing, helping young people develop employability skills, teamwork, and resilience along the way. Managing behaviour positively is a key part of this role, and you’ll be part of a dynamic, inclusive team that’s committed to making a real difference.
If you have the passion, resilience, and practical know-how to help young people unlock their potential and build a positive future, we’d love to hear from you.

About us
New Meaning Training (NMT) offers education with a difference. We are an alternative education provider dedicated to helping young people aged 15–25 discover their strengths and develop the confidence and skills to earn their own living.
For the 2025–2026 academic year, around 300 young people from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, and Berkshire will join one of our programmes. Many of these students are referred by secondary schools, pupil referral units, and Special Education Needs settings.
Our journey began in 2015 with the opening of our first centre in High Wycombe, originally known as “Toolshed.” Ten years on, NMT continues to grow, with new centres planned for Nuneaton and Milton Keynes in September 2025.
In Berkshire we have a range of learning programmes: Construction Multiskills, Creative Art & Design, Sports, Boost Workskills, and Achieve Lifeskills. All incorporate functional skills qualifications in Maths and English, along with tutorials to support our well-rounded approach. We also provide a ‘Transition Support’ programme for young people with EHCPs who are not yet ready for a learning setting.
NMT tailors its programmes to meet the needs of its learners, considering Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We comprehensively apply the principles of a Loving Care Approach (Trauma Informed Practice) to ensure all young people receive the support they need to thrive.
