About the Role The Corporate HS&W Advisor role involves working directly with a range of services within LCC. These services vary from social care, schools, libraries, offices, and to parks, highways, and recycling centres, the broad range of services creates an exciting opportunity for someone looking to expand their H&S experience. You will carry out health and safety audits, inspections, and accident investigations across our sites and will provide advice to managers within dedicated departments to undertake their health and safety duties and responsibilities. You will also be involved in exciting project work such as developing and delivering health and safety training, health and safety campaigns, implementation of the Council’s health and safety management system and updating policies and documentation. You will be supported by a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor and the Corporate Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager, along with a team of other advisors. The service, which is ISO45001 certified, sits within People Services, winners PPMA Public Sector Team of the Year Award 2021, meaning we work closely with Human Resources, Organisational Development and Learning and Development teams. The corporate and traded teams work closely together creating a supportive environment for staff to develop their knowledge and experience from each other. This is a great opportunity for you to develop your expertise through exposure to a broad range of work and a variety of work environments and challenges. About You The post is available as a combination of office and home working and involves travel to Council sites across Leicestershire. You'll have a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 3) or equivalent qualification. You'll have IOSH Technical Membership. You'll have experience of undertaking health, safety, and wellbeing activities, including good knowledge and understanding of hazards, risks and control measures that can be applied to a broad range of service areas. You'll have knowledge and understanding of ISO45001. You'll be able to write accurate and concise health and safety reports using template documents. You'll be a strong, concise, and effective communicator at all levels, including the ability to deliver Health and Safety training. You'll be able to demonstrate a fluent understanding of ICT programmes, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. This role will require regular travel across Leicestershire, so a valid driving licence, access to a vehicle and business use insurance is required.
