Description

BDO Ireland is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Manager to join our Financial Services Risk and Advisory Services team. This is a key leadership opportunity for a professional with a strong background in internal audit and risk management within the Irish financial services sector.
As an Internal Audit Manager, you will lead client engagements, manage a team of auditors, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, risk-focused advisory services. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across BDO and client organisations, helping to build resilient, well-governed businesses in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of internal audit engagements, with a focus on governance, regulatory, and operational risk.
  • Evaluate internal controls and risk management frameworks, identifying areas for improvement and providing practical, value-driven recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a deep understanding of their business needs and risk landscape.
  • Manage and mentor a team of internal auditors, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners to ensure effective service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance service offerings and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to manage multiple engagements and meet project deadlines.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, with relevant experience in internal audit and controls testing.
  • Extensive experience in the financial services sector, with a strong understanding of the Irish regulatory and business environment.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing audit teams, with a proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing professionals.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience delivering audit findings and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
