The Occupational Health Nurse provides employees with guidance on preventing infectious diseases and offers assessment and counseling for those exposed to communicable diseases. They identify potential fitness-to-work issues, including necessary work restrictions, to minimize the risk of disease transmission in the workplace. The role involves assessing the immunization status of new hire employees and making recommendations accordingly. Additionally, the OHN plans, implements, manages, and delivers employee immunization programs across multiple sites in alignment with current Healthcare Worker Immunization Standards. They evaluate and manage employee blood and body fluid exposures, offering follow-up care, including prophylaxis and immunizations as necessary. The OHN will work with various stakeholders, including employees, management, infection prevention and control (IPC) teams, to enhance health and wellness services. Continuous improvement will be supported by regularly evaluating and updating services. The nurse will also update the Team Lead/Manager on concerns and issues, address employee inquiries in a timely manner, or refer them to the appropriate department. Other duties may be assigned as needed within the scope of the position. The ideal candidate for this role will be great at building relationships, engaging with stakeholders, and communicating effectively. This is a hybrid position, with on-site work required in both Edmonton and St. Albert. This position is non-unionized and requires availability for on-call shifts based on rotation. Evening shifts may be required based organizational priorities.
