The Department of Developmental Services is seeking experienced and highly motivated candidates for the position of Registered Nurse IV (RN IV) for the Hogan Regional Office in Danvers, MA. The RN IV provides professional nursing consultation, education, training, resource identification and advocacy for individuals with Developmental Disabilities, their families, DDS staff and provider staff in the area. The RN participates in clinical assessments; risk reviews, nursing home evaluations, hospital evaluations, and discharge planning; completes Mortality Reviews; participates in medication reviews in accordance with MAP. The RN is available to the Area Office Service Coordinators/ staff and providers as a resource to assess, comprehend, plan and resolve issues for individuals at high risk due to complex medical needs. Acts as a liaison to medical and clinical professionals in the community, area hospitals and Rehab Centers. Facilitates communication and coordination of care with medical and psychiatric providers and accompanies individuals to medical appointments as needed. The RN interfaces with the community to promote a better understanding of individuals with developmental disabilities. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive RN IV Nurse Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities Provides on-site clinical and administrative oversight, support, and supervision to the nursing staff and ensures facility policies and procedures are properly interpreted and applied. Serves as a resource person and an advocate for decision-making concerning resident care services and a liaison to all members of the interdisciplinary team, providing educational in-services as needed. Promotes safe, quality care and maintains all nursing standards of care through direct assessment, documentation review, and assisting with coordination of care in emergency situations. Provides on-site administrator services and coordinates proper policy/procedure/protocol in conjunction with the on-call administrator per the on-call system. Utilizes independent judgement in prioritizing staff assignments regarding resident health/safety issues, emergencies or during conflicts, e.g. need for evaluation by physician, need for 1:1 staff due to resident need etc. Acts as liaison regarding resident care and/or admission to outside facilities/ medical consults. Provides training, monitoring and evaluation to staff in health-related area through observation and Inservice education. Provides oversight and assistance with orientation of nursing staff. Is knowledgeable of state and federal regulations governing DDS facilities. Monitors the facility system for documentation of resident health in accordance with state and federal regulations. Adheres to Nurse Practice Act as well as facility and nursing department policy and procedures. Evaluates status of staff health as it related to resident health/safety. Monitors all resident areas for Infection Control and Safety. Corrects and or communicates concerns to appropriate staff. Communicates effectively with parents and guardians both verbally and written when indicated. Advocates for residents and their rights, promotes dignity and respect Other related duties.
