Description The Procedure Scheduler coordinates and schedules ambulatory surgery center (ASC) and hospital-based medical procedures by matching patients with the appropriate provider, facility, and appointment availability while utilizing correct scheduling codes. Reviews clinical information to ensure appointments align with provider diagnoses and procedural indications. Verifies CPT and ICD-10 coding accuracy, confirms required medical clearances and pre-surgical testing, and accurately documents informed consent for procedures and surgeries. Educates patients on procedure preparation, arrival times, and other necessary instructions while addressing questions and concerns. Collaborates with clinical and administrative staff to support efficient departmental operations, demonstrates flexibility in a dynamic healthcare environment, and maintains excellent verbal, written, computer, and electronic medical record (EMR) communication skills.
