JOB DUTIES

Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Nurse Educator to provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff based on mandates, best practices, performance issues, quality management/ performance improvement focus areas, and ongoing professional growth of staff. This position will be responsible for preservice orientation/mandated training which includes displaying strong speaking ability in the classroom environment; applying adult learning principles as evident by implementation of several teaching strategies; ensuring 95% orientation and skill development checklists are completed within time frames and when barriers to completion exist, duties are appropriately modified, and actions taken to facilitate completion; and consulting with peer RN Educator for program modifications and new program development.
The Nurse Educator will also be responsible for implementing and evaluating educational activities/programs; ensuring that educational/learning activities are completed and documented within established deadlines; incorporating all new RN/PCT updates on the EMR and MAK into education offerings; and completing mandatory training requirements in compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
