ABOUT US
Alberta Corrections’ Custody Operations Branch operates ten custodial centres across the province for adult and youth corrections. We have a particular need for candidates in the Peace River region. If you currently live in the Peace River region or are interested in relocation, this may be the perfect opportunity for you!
REQUIREMENTS:
As a Correctional Peace Officer, you will be a valued member of a team that is essential to maintaining the safety and security of a centre. You will perform a variety of security functions to ensure the care and custody of offenders while also ensuring the safety of centre staff and the public. In this environment, you will monitor inmate movement, conduct patrols and counts, manage behaviour, complete searches and complete administrative duties associated with the Correctional Peace Officer role, including report writing and data entry.
As you will be working directly with inmates to provide support and guidance and act as a positive role model, developing an in-depth knowledge of behaviours and personalities is fundamental to succeed in this role.
You will be highly motivated to work with inmates and thrive in a demanding and stressful work environment. Well-developed interpersonal skills, sound judgment and a professional demeanor are essential to this position. You must have the ability to function effectively in a team environment and possess critical thinking skills. Well-developed verbal and written communication, along with basic computer skills are necessary to ensure success in this position. Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage conflicts effectively are also essential.
