POSITION DESCRIPTION

California State University, Los Angeles is seeking a Data Scientist / Research Scientist to collaborate with the Department of Computer Science in the development of advanced machine learning algorithms and/or Earth System Digital Twins for multidisciplinary applications. The selected candidate will be actively involved in Conducting literature reviews, collaborating with the research team and project Principal Investigators (PIs) in developing machine learning algorithms, predictive models, Earth System Digital Twins, data visualization/UI platforms, and large-scale data processing pipelines, and Co-authoring research papers, technical reports, and future grant proposals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science
• At least 2 years of experience in machine learning, with a focus on deep neural networks
• Strong background in predictive modeling for spatiotemporal data
• Experience in research and development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in writing and publishing research papers in peer-reviewed journals or conferences
• Familiarity with Earth science data
• Knowledge or experience with Earth System Digital Twins (ESDT)
  The incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
